Best Skincare Products of 2018

Sometimes skincare advice can be completely and utterly contradictory. Some say oil first, some say oil last ‒ which is correct, we’ll never know. (Definitely oil first.) But there is one thing you can be certain of: skincare is about using products that work for you, that make you feel good, and you should flip the bird to everything else. Pick the skincare routine that serves you and has you living your best skincare life ‒ whether that’s oil first or last, it doesn’t really matter too much in the end, as long as that oil left you feeling good (ie if there is any kind of burn or rash, please stop immediately).

On that note ‒ the living your best skincare life note, not the burning sensation note ‒ this best of 2018 is the skincare products that I fell in love with Notebook-stylz, but it might not be the same for you and that’s A-OK. Hopefully you do find something that’s the Noah to your Ally, but if not, then that’s fine – you’re just using your BS Filter Pro.

1. Frank Body Creamy Face Scrub

Who doesn’t love a scrub in the tub? The Frank Body Creamy Face Scrub is effectively scrubby, yet gentle at the same time. (I honestly don’t know how they do it.)

It’s made from 99.5% natural ingredients making it a product I turn to when my skin is breaking out, or playing silly buggers as my Aunt would say, and I don’t want to aggravate it more. It removes dead skin cells, clean pores, and detoxifies your skin without tearing it a new one.

2. Fresh Rose Face Mask

I’ve mentioned this mask multiple times throughout the year and that’s because it’s so damn delightful. It’s honestly heaven in a tub. The smell, the feel, the hydration ‒ heaven, heaven, heavenly.

3. Alpha H Glycolic Acid

Now this is actually a recent addition to my best skincare life, but now that I’ve started, I can’t stop.

You may remember from our 5-TO-TRY skincare ingredients lesson that Glycolic Acid is a naturally occuring AHA that penetrates skin deeply removing dead skin cells, and revealing bright, fresher skin. It’s used to treat a variety of skin conditions, helps clear blocked pores and treats dull or scarred skin, as well as plumps the skin. It’s a miracle ingredient ‒ which is why I love smothering my face in with this product twice a week.

Alpha H Liquid gold is an overnight “resurfacing treatment” that stimulates skin cell growth and revitalises skin. It’s used to lower the skin’s pH, is anti-ageing, renews and repairs skin, while boosting elastin. It’s solid gold. Errr, actually it’s liquid gold, but you get it.

4. Bioderma Micellar Water

I’m embarrassed by how long it took me to discover micellar water, but now that I have, I’ve made the most of it.

Whenever I have a heavy face of makeup, I micellar water before or after I cleanse (depending on how I feel ‒ I’m crazy like that). It’s the best way to remove makeup if you can’t be bothered to do your whole skincare routine and it’s so gentle on your skin. I also highly recommend carrying a small travel size when flying ‒ it makes you feel as fresh (well, as fresh as one can while being trapped on a machine hurtling through the sky with the air con blasting).

Basically, it’s become mi-bell-ar water. (Sorry.)

5. Go-To Transformazing Sheet Mask

The $9 serum-drenched sheet mask that leaves you glowy, dewy and feeling more fab than the Fab 5.

I love this mask when I feel exhausted but have somewhere I gotta be. I also love this mask when I need to feel fabulous, but got nowhere to be. I get the same result both times: 11/10.
