5 Quick & Easy Hairstyles When You're in a Rush (and Haven't Washed Your Hair)

If you're anything like me, you spend half your morning saying "oh crap! Is that the time?" (I'm doing it right now!) But you still need to look pulled together, but in a quarter of the time.

The answer? Quick and easy hairstyles that look chic and effortless, while actually being, well, effortless.

Tried and tested, here at 5 easy hairstyles to try when you hit snooze one (or ten) times too many:

1. The barely-trying half braid

A half braid is easy to do, and looks fab even if your hair is dirty / salty / frizzy etc. My hair has been all of the above when I've whipped out this bad boy, but someone has always commented - positively, I should add.

Start as if you were going to braid all your hair, but stop halfway and pull into a ponytail.

Voila! Done. Minutes to spare. Now, where's that coffee?

2. Cover it with a hair scarf

Hair scarves look amazing. Plus they distract viewers from whatever nightmare your hair experiencing.

Whether you pull your hair in to a low pony, low bun, or a high pony: a scarf = super easy + instant chic. (Pretty sure that's pythagorean theorem right there.)

P.S. Zara has some amazing scarves in store.

3. Go chic with a sleek ponytail

When your hair just will not behave - most days, amiright? - a sleek pony creates a chic look, and is doable no matter what fresh horror your hair has created.

Part your hair wherever feels comfortable, brush it back with a comb and pull it tightly into a low ponytail. Use hairspray to hold it in place. The best bit is that your hair is meant to look shiney, so no issues if you haven't washed your hair in 5 days. Go to town with that hair spray girl!

4. or a chic low bun

I love a messy bun as much as the next girl, but sometimes achieving the perfect messiness takes just as long as a full blown hairstyle. If you're in a rush, a sleek low bun can save you oodles of time.

Tie your hair into a low ponytail, then wrap your hair around and pin it with bobby pins.

It's perfect when teamed with a classic white shirt and a red lip.

5. And finally; half up, half down

Half up, half down is perfect when you've hit Day Three-Four Hair. Your hair still looks OK, but you can't get away with wearing it out.

Spray some dry shampoo for grit, then pull it into a top knot, a half up ponytail, or bun - whichever look you prefer.

You'll look like you have that whole I-look-stylish-everyday-second-of-every-day thing covered.
