5 Best Base Products With @GracieFIles

When asked to feature on Bel’s my 5-TO-TRY series, I struggled to narrow down a category. As a beauty devotee, I have an endless list of beloved products and beauty categories. I wondered to myself, ‘Should I choose my favourite red lipsticks? Moisturisers? Mascaras?’ While red lipsticks seemed to reign for a while, I ended up settling on the largest category in my beauty collection – base products.

I am always searching for complexion perfection, as I’m sure many of you are too. So, after years of searching high and low for the best of BB creams, CC creams, tinted moisturisers and foundations, I think I am on my way to finally narrowing down the finalists.

1. BareMinerals Complexion Rescue

This tinted gel cream is my #1 must-have base product. If I didn’t have it on hand, I’d probably go into meltdown. I know that sounds a little dramatic, but it’s seriously that good. Ingredients like coconut water pack a real hydrating punch, but since the formula is oil-free, it doesn’t feel greasy or heavy on the skin.

2. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

Sheer Glow is my absolute favourite foundation of all time. All. Time. It provides light to full coverage (depending on how you apply it), lasts all day long with minimal touch-ups, and doesn’t break out my oily-acne prone skin. I have honestly lost count of how many bottles of this stuff I have used in my time… perhaps 10?

3. The Base by Lara Bingle LB Cream

This product is another daily go-to for me when I want to use a product that provides me with light coverage and a natural lit-from-within glow. A little bit of this stuff goes a long way and it does a fantastic job of evening out the skin tone. If I want to amp up the coverage, I’ll add some extra concealer as I find this only builds up to a light-medium coverage. If you’re after a product that lets your freckles and natural beauty shine through, this could be it!

4. Ellis Faas Skin Veil Foundation

Look, I know this product comes with a rather hefty price tag… so I cringe to admit it is worth the dollars. Skin Veil is another foundation I can rely to make my skin look hyper-real. It gives me flawless coverage when applied with a sponge, but it never looks cakey or thick. If you have an oily skin type, this baby might need to be set with powder. However, if you have a dry complexion and love a serious glow then you could easily go powder free and be confident that the foundation will last.

5. Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation

Last but certainly not least, we have the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation. This luminous foundation was easily my most used base product from last year because, without sounding like I have tickets on myself, it makes my skin look so dang ethereal and angelic. Apply it with your fingers or a dense brush and prepare yourself to be stopped by strangers in the street asking you what foundation you are wearing!
